Being a socially proactive organization

Every year a large amount of pharmaceutical waste is generated from the unused medicines from the household, industries and other places in the society.  This is due to the fact that purchased medicines are not fully consumed due to patient non-compliance, change in medication regimen by the treating physician, developing intolerable effects, etc.

Paul Merchants in association with Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh and NGO Parivartan. Started as Project “DWAI” that aims at collecting leftover and unused medicines from the households before it gets expired and distribute it among needy patients. This would make a huge impact by reducing the generation of pharmaceutical waste and will help patients who cannot afford medicines for treatment.

For the same Paul Merchants have constructed a dedicated “DWAI” Pharmacy at Panaah, Government Medical College and Hospital – Sector 32, Chandigarh which would be our centre of operations for DWAI activities. Equipped with pharmacists and dedicated staff, the personnel use a Multi-utility vehicle donated by Paul Merchants for creating awareness and for collecting unused medicines from all over the Chandigarh. Additionally, under the project we have identified locations and have set up “Medicine Donation Boxes” all over the Chandigarh for the public to do their bit by dropping unused medicines in the Donation Box.
